What to Expect When You Arrive
Patient care is prioritised using the South African Triage Scale (SATS).
SATS allows GPs and professional nurses to rapidly assess patients, assign a colour-coded priority, and escalate care appropriately based on clinical urgency.
Triage Categories
🔴 RED (Immediate)
Life-threatening conditions requiring urgent resuscitation.
Examples: severe breathing distress, shock, seizures or coma, uncontrolled bleeding.
🟠 ORANGE (Very Urgent)
Serious conditions needing prompt medical attention.
Examples: high fever with systemic symptoms, moderate breathing distress, altered mental state, severe pain.
🟡 YELLOW (Urgent)
Conditions requiring timely care.
Examples: mild dehydration, controlled asthma symptoms, moderate abdominal pain, stable but elevated blood pressure.
🟢 GREEN (Routine)
Non-urgent conditions, usually managed within 4 hours.
Examples: follow-up GP visits, chronic disease monitoring, minor infections, wounds, wellness consultations.
🔵 BLUE (Deceased)
We are committed to providing calm, professional care during stressful situations.
